7 Ways To Bust Up A Bad Mood: How To Feel Better Quickly

I have been in a bad mood all week long.

Not fit to be around other humans, really.

Could be all the rainy weather. Or maybe the fact that I have been in the dentist office three out of four days so far.

It could also be that I just haven’t been able to get much accomplished this week…although it’s hard to tell which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Am I unproductive because I’m in a bad mood, or am I in a bad mood because I’m unproductive?

Whatever the cause of the bad mood, it’s time to bust it up! Life is too short to feel this way!

Here are seven sure fire ways to bust up a bad mood:

  1. Pray it away.

Talk to the Lord about your bad mood and why you are feeling this way. It might even be that He is showing you something through your bad mood. Search your heart and let Him clear out any yucky feelings or sins that are weighing you down.

  2.  Go for a walk.

Getting your blood pumping and your heart rate up is a great way to blast away a bad mood! It gets the endorphins flowing, and you’re sure to feel better!

  3. Take a nap.

When you’re exhausted and stressed out, a nap may be just what the doctor ordered.  It’s really hard to slow down when you have a lot to do, but recharging your batteries can help you feel better and be more productive in the long run.

  4. Lose yourself in music.

It may sound silly, but singing can really be a great way to get rid of that bad mood. So SING at the top of your lungs. Or crank up some music and DANCE your blues away. It’s those endorphins again! They really are magical!

  5. Take a shower and get dressed!

If you’ve been moping around the house, get up and get presentable! I don’t know what it is about a bath that makes me feel better, but it never fails! You might even want to kick it up a notch and do your hair and make-up.

  6. Do something productive.

Clean out a closet, cook a meal, sweep the porch, or whatever needs to be done. If you sit around dwelling on a bad mood, it isn’t going to go away! Do something, no matter how small that gives you a sense of accomplishment.

  7. Journal.

Pour it all out in a notebook. Identify your feelings and deal with them so you can move on to a better frame of mind!

If it’s more than just a bad mood, take care of yourself. If you’re struggling with depression, stress or anxiety, it’s okay to get help!

We all have bad moods from time to time. But I’m ready to shake mine. How about you?

So, I’m off to the shower and then maybe I will do something productive!

Please feel free to comment on how you shake your bad moods!
